How to get a higher GPA in high school. - GPA (grade point average) is one of the most important factors for college admission. Aim for a high GPA and get as many A’s as you can.
- Majority of the classes in high school are not as hard as higher level classes. The topics covered are basic and do not involve meticulous details.
- Study the important concepts and keywords because these are the likely choices to be in exams.
- Many of the classes have multiple exams. For example, math and science classes would have tests on every chapter. This is good for students because less material is covered on the tests as oppose to midterms that cover many different chapters.
- Use this opportunity to make outlines for each chapter and study practice problems that are similar to the tests.
- If you don’t do well on a test, use this opportunity to learn from your mistakes. Study the types of questions that the teacher gave you on a test.
For Tests and Exams: Usually, the exams in high schools focus on keywords. Study the keywords the chapters. You may that the keywords are found in multiple choice, true and false and fill in the blank sections. Once again, make an outline for the chapters. Outlines are beneficial because they condense the contents in the book. Good outlines will replace the book, and all you have to do is study the outline. Memorize key concepts and keywords/definitions. Also, don’t worry too much on nitty-gritty details. Finally, think like a teacher. A teacher will give you a range of easy, medium and hard questions. The hard questions are usually the tricky questions. Go back to the chapter look for things that might trick you. For Homework: Complete your homework and turn it in on time! The difference between an A and a B or a B and C may depend on homework. Usually they are easy points, so don’t neglect them. Complete the homework to the best of your abilities.Make sure you understand every part of your homework and hold onto them. Homework is practice and is meant to prepare you for your tests. Therefore, do you your homework properly and keep them for a study reference Take advantage of Extra Credit, Participation and Class work These should be easy points and grade boosters. Extra credits are helpful because they can make up for any missed points. In other words, extra credit can only increase your overall grade. Show the teacher that you actually care about your grade, and participate in class. Some classes offer participation points, so take advantage of them. Follow these advices and you should get a higher GPA
