Finish College Quickly
Finish College Quickly? Really? Are you sick of school and want to start life in the real world? Are you in high school and want to finish college in three years or less? Luckily, finishing college as early as three years can be easily accomplished, but how so? The best way to get a head start in college is to get college credits during your high school years. To finish college quickly, the two good ways to get college credit is by: AP credit and community college credit AP (Advanced Placement) Credit Most students are aware of AP credit. Typically, juniors and seniors take AP classes in order to get college credit. AP classes are very similar to college classes, and students are required to take an AP exam in order to receive college credit. Most colleges and universities require a certain score in the AP exams in order to receive college credit. What are some drawbacks of AP courses? - The classes are generally harder and require more studying time. Therefore, students tend to stress out and worry about their grades
- You have to pay for the AP exams. The more exams you take, the more you pay out of your pocket.
- The AP exams are usually difficult; therefore you are a taking a risk paying for the exams.
- Colleges and Universities won’t college credit unless you achieve a certain score.
- More pressure on the students to do well!
Community College Credit Most community colleges allow juniors and seniors to take community colleges courses for credit. This is wonderful because students can graduate from high school and can already finish 3 to 5 classes for college. Finishing at least three classes while in high school may mean that you get to finish a quarter earlier in college. This is a great way to finish college quickly. If you are a junior, try to take a course in community college every semester until you graduate. If you complete three classes each year (fall, spring and summer), you will be able to transfer a total of 6 courses to college after your high school graduation. Furthermore, if you receive good grades in the community college courses, then you may be able to boost your GPA considerably! Make sure you choose the appropriate classes in community colleges. Make sure the classes are transferrable. We recommend completing the social science courses while in high school. This is because these courses are generally easier and requires less time commitment than the science courses (no labs!) We also recommend completing the English courses in the community colleges. The grading is a generally little more lenient than the universities for English courses. As for science courses, take them with caution. These courses are more difficult and time consuming. Even worse, some colleges may not give credit. However, if you do complete science courses and successfully transfer them, then you are likely increasing your chances to finish your university studies in less than three full years. Other options: Consider researching about the GED. GED or other exams allow you to graduate from high school earlier with a diploma. Once you graduate, you can enroll into a community college. There have been many students who finished their high school studies during their sophomore year and immediately enrolled into community colleges. These students were able to transfer to a 4-year college as a junior, while most of the other students of the same age just graduated high school. If you are currently enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year college, consider taking summer school.
