Explore the Idea of Applying to Community College

Applying to Community College

Getting into the college of your dreams is a worthy accomplishment, but what if you don’t get in? What about applying to community college?

First off, research many different schools that you would like to attend. Make responsible decisions on what colleges you would like to attend. For example, don’t just limit yourself to ivy-league schools!

Make sure you apply to your dream colleges, back-up colleges, and guaranteed-admission-colleges. Make sure you have at least some interest in allof the colleges you apply to.

Also consider applying to community colleges. Community colleges are like the diamonds in the rough. Pursuing an education in community colleges is a true gem.

Why?

  • Many people are full-time workers and cannot afford to go to school during the day. Luckily, many community colleges offer classes during the evening.

  • Community college education is cheaper and generally more flexible.
    • You are saving thousands of dollars by choosing to complete your classes in community college.
  • The classes are generally easier, but you also get a thorough learning experience
    • In most cases, you learn more in a community college course than you would in a four year college. This is because of the added pressure in four year colleges as well as the larger class size.

  • Admission to a community college is very easy.
  • Transferring to a four year college is easy too.
    • If you didn’t get accepted to your dream school while in high school, you have another chance via transferring from a community college.

  • You can receive certifications and training experience related to your job field.
  • Many different classes are provided.
    • However, four year colleges generally provide a wider variety of courses

  • Finally, it is cheaper and cost-effective. We can’t stress that enough!
    • Without scholarships and grants, four-year colleges are just too expensive. Tuition, parking and registration fees are much more expensive in four-year colleges. Books, unfortunately, are about the same price.

Attending community college has become increasing in demand. Most professional schools and employers do not look down upon this. In fact, experience is still one of the biggest factors for employment. Likewise, professional schools expect a lot experience from their candidates. So don’t be hesitant, begin your higher level education at a community college, and then work your way up!
